Funding
South East London Prevention and Health Creation Partnership
SE London Strategic VCSE Alliance have a unique partnership opportunity for voluntary sectors organisations in Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark to work with them and South East London Integrated Care Board (ICB), and Kings Health Partners (KHP) to co-create a prevention and health-creation partnership.
This is a 3 year funded partnership opportunity (£50,000 per year per partner) to co-develop ways to reduce health inequalities by supporting the ICS to re-imagine prevention and health creation in a way that is community-led and built on trust. They are looking to co-develop ways for VCSEs to incorporate health into their existing holistic community-based services and work together to transform health-led prevention.

Baobab Community Fund
This is a £3 million initiative and is now accepting applications. It is designed to disrupt the legacy of underfunding faced by Black and Global Majority communities, this fund supports groups working to challenge oppression and disparity.
Better Community Business Network
Better Community Business Network’s Grant Initiative aims to provide small third-sector grant awards to empower charities and local community projects. This initiative will distribute a one-off grant award of up to £3,000 per charity or to small but credible community projects, which are able to demonstrate their positive impact on the communities they aim to serve.
Deadline: 16 February
Hedley Foundation
Awards up to £5,000 are available to charities with an income below £1 million for projects that improve quality of life for people with disabilities, older people, the terminally ill, carers, homeless people or ex-offenders.
Deadline: 9 April
Public gardens
Metropolitan Public Gardens Association are offering awards of up to £1,500 for community garden projects.
Deadline: 28 February
Nourish fund
Compost London’s Nourish Fund makes funding of up to £2,000 to enable small or newly set-up organisations to access their paid-for services that they may not otherwise be able to afford.
Research
Memory tests for African Caribbean backgrounds
University College London is conducting research to make memory tests used in health settings fair for everyone, especially for people from African and Caribbean backgrounds. They are looking for African or Caribbean people who are aged 40-80 years old and who spent at least their first 10 years in an African or Caribbean cultural environment, to help with this research. Alzheimer’s Research UK
Only 65% of people with dementia symptoms receive a diagnosis, often after a lengthy wait. Share your experiences of getting/receiving a dementia diagnosis to identify how to make the experience better.
Migrant Londoner communities
The London Resilience Unit, Carlson Consulting and Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) invite you to complete this survey as part of the Community Resilience Migrant Londoners Research & Engagement Project. The survey aims to help them understand the role of organisations in supporting the resilience of migrant Londoner communities and their engagement with formal resilience structures for London.
Hearing tests
In response to hearing health inequalities, the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) is working to understand public awareness about their online hearing test among people from Black African, Black Caribbean and South Asian groups. Funding for Voluntary Organisations in Criminal Justice research
New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) is researching the funding landscape for voluntary organisations working in the criminal justice system in England and Wales.
You can help by taking the 15 minute survey. It will contribute to shaping support, policy recommendations, and long-term solutions for the sector.
