Building blocks of health
The Health Foundation have produced a new resource giving a brief introduction to the building blocks of health, explaining the term ‘wider determinants of health’, among other things.
Fitness
We are Undefeatable have launched some new videos with ‘Sit on Fitness Apparatus (SOFA)’. They are promoting something that could work for those with long term health conditions. We are Undefeatable also have a brand new website full of useful resources.
Older people & health
The British Diabetic Association has released this resource to support older people with eating, drinking, and being active while aging.
Homelessness
Listen Up! is a lived experience-led project looking to make changes toward better healthcare for people facing homelessness. For their (un)Entitled project they’ve made a toolkit for those who want to show solidarity.
Walking Men’s Group
The Walking Men Group is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections among African and Caribbean men in South London. They have walk and talk sessions where they provide a supportive environment to talk.
Reading & dementia
The Reading Agency has launched a new booklist for people affected by dementia. There are also books for family, friends and carers.
Renting in later life
This guide from Independent Age is for people who are renting in later life.
Winter vaccinations
This winter vaccine communications toolkit provides information on the flu and COVID-19 vaccination programme for 2024/25.
Pension credit awareness
Help pensioners check if they are eligible for pension credit to secure the winter fuel payment. A toolkit is also available.
Voluntary organisation banking
UK Finance have simplified the process of opening a voluntary organisation bank account with a new digital guide. They give guidance on how to choose, open and manage a bank account.

The evaluation and outcomes of the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs Green Social Prescribing Pilot has been published.
Social prescribing around the world
The National Academy for Social Prescribing have published an updated social prescribing around the world report.
Urban health
Impact on Urban Health have conducted the largest study ever on health and wellbeing in Lambeth and Southwark. It highlights disparities in health in these boroughs.
Community Champions
This report is the result of a survey of local authority commissioners of community champions programmes in England. It looked to understand the breadth of commissioning approaches.
Long Covid
Healthwatch Havering have produced a report of their focus sessions to learn more about people’s experiences with Post COVID Syndrome (Long COVID). Here is the report, and here is full transcripts of the focus group sessions.
London Climate Resilience
The London Climate Resilience Review was commissioned by the Mayor because of the growing concerns surrounding climate change. They have released their final report, which includes information on how over 65s might be affected and what the role of voluntary and community groups might be.
