London Plus is excited to announce the appointment of a new Chief Executive, Geethika Jayatilaka.
Geethika is currently the Interim Executive Director for YMCA George William College, a national infrastructure organisation supporting the youth sector to improve outcomes. She has been in post since January 2024.
Previously she was the CEO of two national charities working with children and young people. As CEO of Chance UK, she grew the organisation’s work into five new London Boroughs during her six-year tenure. She also has experience in the equalities, substance misuse and housing sectors.
Geethika was formally a local councillor for the London Borough of Camden where she was Cabinet Member for Social Services and Health, and then Children’s Services. She is also an experienced non-executive and has been a Trustee of a range of local, regional and national charities.
Geethika said:
“I’m proud to call London my home, but there are also some profound challenges and inequalities in our city. Listening to and working with charities and community groups will be critical in tackling these.
I’m incredibly excited to be joining London Plus and to play my part in supporting the vibrant voluntary and community sector and the vital role they play in London life.“
Sarah Mulley, Chair of Trustees at London Plus said:
“I am delighted that Geethika is joining London Plus as Chief Executive. She brings both deep experience and understanding of the London voluntary and community sector, and an exciting vision for the future of London Plus. London’s charities and community groups are facing very challenging conditions, but there are also real opportunities to build partnerships, spread best practice and work together in new ways. London Plus’s role in connecting, supporting and advocating for the sector has never been more important and I am excited about the leadership that Geethika will bring to our work.”
London Plus is looking forward to welcoming Geethika to the team in January 2025.
