With the introduction of the new Integrated Care System (ICS) in 2022, the NHS has a statutory duty to engage and involve charity and community groups much more in its shaping of services and service delivery.

In our latest analysis, ‘Commitments from the NHS to Engage with communities‘, we explore how each area of London has adapted to the new ICS structure.Front cover image of report 'Commitments from the NHS to Engage with communities'

Whether you are a Voluntary, Community or Social Enterprise sector (VCSE) organisation, a community member wanting to understand how the NHS is working in your area, or an Integrated Care Board aiming to reflect on your priorities, this document provides a comparative analysis of the five London ICS’ People and Communities’ Strategies (2022-25).

Inside you will find information about:

  • Who your engagement leads are
  • Roles that support the two sectors to ‘speak to’ each other
  • What health inequalities projects are happening in your area
  • Where your local Citizens Panels are, how to get involved
  • What commitments there are to engage with you
  • What governance structures are in place for you to get involved in

This analysis is a snapshot in time, designed to provide an overview of the processes, resources and commitments of each ICS, as published in their strategies from 2022. We will update our resources to reflect developments in the future.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this document. Together we can strengthen collaborative working between the voluntary and community sector and the NHS.
