Last June, the London Communities Emergencies Partnership hosted an in-person event in London.
The event had a particular focus on networking across and between sectors, with many workshops exploring ways in which communities and the organisations who support them can be more prepared for emergencies.
One year on, we are taking a retrospective look at the event, sharing some videos captured on the day, and exploring how far the London Communities Emergencies Partnership has come since the event took place.

What would attendees like to see LCEP do next?
A year on, we have seen progress in a number of the key themes raised at the conference. In particular, we have strengthened relationships with our partners and improved collaboration across sectors in both planning and response.
Some of the highlights include improving skills and confidence of the charity sector in preparing for extreme weather. For example, we delivered local heatwave exercises to 110 partners. This resulted in participants feeling more connected to emergency planners, volunteers and others in their community, as well as a better understanding of the roles they played.
Alongside this, we supported the delivery of the Community Resilience Fund with grants given across London’s Boroughs to improve capacity in the sector. We have also continued to shape and influence strategy around resilience, advocating for response and preparedness to be more ‘people centred’ and spreading recognition that emergencies don’t affect everyone equally.
