In December, the London Boroughs Faiths Network (LBFN) continued its vital mission of collaboration and resilience among faith communities in London.
Through impactful events and partnerships, they brought together leaders, practitioners, and representatives from diverse faiths to address shared challenges and strengthen community bonds.
Community Resilience Training in Westminster
A real highlight of December was the Community Resilience Training held by LBFN over four evenings in Westminster. These events brought together 25 participants from diverse backgrounds – including faith groups, local councils, and community organisations. Together, they explored strategies for building safer, stronger, and more prepared communities.
Representatives from Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Jewish, and other faith traditions were present, underscoring the richness of Westminster’s religious diversity.
These sessions focused on:
-
- Emergency preparedness and response
- Safeguarding vulnerable groups and promoting mental health awareness
- Hate crime prevention and community safety
- Addressing climate change and its impacts on public health
The training emphasised the need for and power of collaboration between faith leaders, local councils, police, and organisations such as CST, Victim Support and the British Red Cross.
Participants found the sessions very insightful and useful, saying:
- “LBFN’s training was incredibly practical, giving me the confidence to lead resilience efforts in my community.”
- “The focus on interfaith collaboration was inspiring and opened doors to new partnerships.”
Looking Ahead
LBFN is proud to lead these collaborative efforts, bringing together London’s faith communities to address shared challenges. The December training sessions in Westminster showcased the power of interfaith dialogue and collective action in building resilient communities.
As we prepare for an exciting year ahead, we encourage everyone to participate in upcoming LBFN events and continue these vital conversations.
